Complete Selection Procedure for Drivers in Indian Police/ Army – Medical Test/ PET Phase-I/ II/ III.

Eligibility Requirement: The applicant must be 10th Pass (SSC) from approved board or institution or equivalent. ii) Having a Valid driving license (Transport) for Light or Medium or  Heavy vehicles with minimum 2 years experience in driving.

Police Jobs 2015 Selection Process:

First of all, candidate has to apply online or offline mode as per the notification for the Police Driver Post. The candidate must note down important dates, exam pattern & syllabus. When the application process is over, the controller of examination issue admit card for all the eligible candidates.


a) This test is also called (Height Bar Test) – In this test the candidate height is examined as per the required. The candidate who doesn’t fulfill the minimum height criteria is eliminated.

b) RACE: The applicant who are shortlisted after Height Bar Test, are called for RACE Test. The candidate has to run One Mile within six and half minutes to qualify for further tests. The marks for running exam is not added for final merit list.

c) Physical Standard/ ScreeningTest (PST): Those who do not meet the required physical measurements will  be eliminated at this stage.

d) Bio-Metric Identification: The qualified candidates are then subjected to Biometric identification.

PHASE-II: Written Examination.

OMR BASED Written Exam – 50 Marks for1-hour duration. The candidate whoare qualify in the Physical test are called for the OMR Based Test at center. The admit card contains all the necessary details ie duraiton of paper, exam centers etc. After the exam is over candidate can download answer key to the question paper from ITBP or their organization website.

Min. Cut-Off Marks.

The minimum Cut off marks require in written examination is 35% for Unreserved/Ex-Servicemen and 33% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL).


GK/Language(Hindi/English)/Mathematics  (MCQ)  –  10 Marks and Trade-related theory (MCQ) – 40 Marks.


The skill test of Driver consists of two driving test a) Initial Driving Test and Final driving test.

i) Initial Driving Test – 15 Marks (Starting procedure, Marching Procedure, Control on vehicle, System, Garaging in side, Garaging off side and turn about).

ii) Final Driving Test – 35 Marks (Starting procedure, Marching Procedure, Change of Gear drill, Signaling Drill, Turning Drill, Change of lane, Response on traffic signal, Over taking, speed control, Letting the vehicle pass, Slowing of vehicle and Halting drill).

PHASE-IV- Document Verification Process.

This stage is very important, as candidate must verify before applying to Police Driver Recruitment. The shortlisted candidate from PHASE-III are asked to present original education, caste, and other documents before the examiner.

b) Detailed Medical Test – This is the final stage, candidates are send to medical hospital for their body checkup.


After conducting PHASE-I/ II/ III/ IV, the board prepare final merit list as per the marks obtained by the candidates. After completion of Phase – II & Phase-III, Merit lists in each category namely, Gen, SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and Ex-servicemen shortlisted for Verification of Original Documents/Certificates and Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
